Psalm 139: 13-16

For you created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, you saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Three Years

Yup... While I am sad that I have not posted in 3 yrs.  I am giving myself a pass... because we were are living and experiencing life while making memories.

Below are some great pictures over the 3 years for my babies... so that when I am gone (and you read this post) you will remember the fun times.  You are both my biggest treasure, my biggest achievement, and the reason I wake up everyday ready to take on the world.

Yes this is happening - How do I stop time?

Yup, this is happening...... Emerson is getting ready to start 4th grade (this is not a type-o) and Harrison will begin in Kindergarten. Today we went to meet your teachers and it went well. Emerson got assigned to the teacher she wanted and Harrison got Emerson's Kindergarten teacher. I sit here reflecting on both of you with such strong emotions and give all praise to God for the lovely children you are. I am truly blessed.

Harrison I am so proud of you, I knew that ONLY by the grace of God, we would reach this day but it truly has snuck up on me. I can’t shake the image of you in NICU all wired up fighting for your life and now you have met another milestone. I know that you will be fine at school, I just hope mommy can make it through your first day of school.

Then there is my girl, Emerson.... how can you be so grown up? I don’t want to freak out about the future, I mean in 2 yrs. you will be entering middle school, rather I want to enjoy this year; however, I sometimes look at you and I see you through a different set of eyes, like I am seeing YOU for the 1st time. I wonder if this happens to other moms... I am so very proud of the young lady you are becoming.

I love you both... I pray that throughout the years you never question this love...

You are both my legacy, validation of why I am here, my purpose, MY EVERYTHING.

We survived your 8th Birthday!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!!! This weekend was such an exciting time for you and exhausting for your Mommie. Lately I have been taking a step back and looking at you from a different perpsective. You are becoming such a young lady. I hope that I can do right by you, that I will provide you with structure and discipline when needed and always with constant love and affection. My Girl, I often wonder if I am doing right by you. I know sometimes mommie looses her temper and screams (also we are puerto rican screaming = talking), I wonder if this is going to traumatize you in the future. I am not a perfect mom, nor will I claim to be; however, I hope that even through my mistakes you come out undamaged and that as you get older we continue to have a close relationship. I love you!!!

Yeah - He Turns 4!!!!

First and Foremost - GLORY TO GOD!!!!!!!

Harrison, my son, you turn 4 today!!! I cannot believe that this day is here. We, as a family, have been through such a roller coaster ride that it truly feels like it was an outer body experience. As if this happen to someone else and not you, me, or us.

I constantly am reminded, by you, of the miracle that you are. Just as I type this, I am remembering the conversation between the doctor and mommie and daddy where he recommended that we terminate the pregnancy because you were not going to make it. Well look at you know! You (and God) showed him!

This past year, my son, you have really come into your own. You love baseball and are really good at it, gymnastics, peppa ping, cars, spiderman, and of course chocolate :) . You have developed such a great personality; you are caring, sweet, respectful little boy that everyone loves. You and your sister have such a close relationship and you drive her crazy. I pray that continues even after I am gone.

The best gift that I could have wished for you on your 4th birtday is that you be healthy, happy and God has granted this to both of us. You are a typical 4 year old!!!

I love you, Harrison with every fiber of who I am. Happy Birthday!!!

The BIG 7!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMERSON!!!!

Another year has gone by my sweet girl.  Today you turn 7!  You and only you gave me the title of MOM.  I was so lucky that God chose to give you to me. I know all mommies say that their children are special but none are as special as you. :) As my first born you hold a very special place in my heart.

I pray that you have a great year, that you become wiser, smarter, and that your love for God grows deeper. Baby Girl, I cannot wait to see what 2nd grade holds for you. I know you are very excited to start that new phase in your life but mommie continues to struggle because I still see you as the little girl that came home from the hospital wtih the tiara and purse, my little princess.

I wish I could place you and your brother in a cocoon so that no pain would every reach you but that would not only be impossible it would be unfair. Life is made up of ups and downs, rewards and failures. So, I promise to continue to be your loudest and strongest advocate, to help you clear any hurdles you encounter in life, to hold you when you cry, to disipline you when needed, and to ALWAYS remind you that I love you no matter what and that you are a child of GOD.

I hear your steps coming to my office (yes only 7am) and if I know you, you should be ready to go have our mommie and daughter breakfast. So with that I end this by saying:

HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY EMMIE!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU.

A Day in the life

I am exhausted!! I am sure this is the mantra of every mom especially those with young children but Lord while today was not atypical I had to stop and take an extra breath.

As usual,  I decided to write in detail what I have done today so that I can share with my babies some day and use as leverage when needed (and nope I don't feel guilty at all, I believe this one of those perks just like carrying you for nine months).

Emmie and Harrison, right now you are running around the house with an endless amount of energy and I am hanging on to dear life by a thread.  So here is what we did today:

8:00am:  Start of the day.  (Great start to the day usually we are up by 7:00am)
8:45-9:15:  Made pancakes and got everyone fed
9:15-11:15:  Laundry and cleaned up the house
11:15-Noon:   Mommy took a shower while both of you sat on my bed and played with my nook
12:00-12:30:  Snack Time
12:30:  Headed out to get pictures with Santa.  Got to the store and was told come back at 5pm
1:00-3:00:  Went grocery shopping with Emmie (Daddy had Harrison)
   3:00-3:30:  Fed the kids lunch
3:30-4:30:  Daddy finished folding the clothes and mommy drank meds (did I tell you I have been sick, no
    voice, fever, etc...)
4:30-5:30:  Back to get pictures with Santa
5:00-6:00:  Headed to Spanish supermarket to get key ingredients for our Christmas meal
6:00-7:00:  Went out to eat like a family
   7:00-7:40:  RELAXED
   7:40-8:00:  Gave kiddo’s baths
8:00-9:00:  Snack time and relax time.
      9:00pm:  BED TIME

So at the end of the day, what do I have to show for it????  Great memories and even pictures.  Thank You God for the memories.

Happy Birthday

How did this happen?  I blinked!

When you were born I use to always tell people that I could not wait until this nightmare was over.  That I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel but when would I get there? How long would it take?

Well my son, today you turn three and I can say that not only have we seen the light but we have come out from the other side of the tunnel.  No more specialist, no more therapist.  ALL PRAISE TO OUR GOD.

You are growing up like all other boys, rambunctious, mischievous (your sister can attest to that) and healthy.  This is no small miracle for you. Mommy has been melancholy and reminiscing the last few days about our journey.  Remembering when you were still in my womb and Daddy asked the doctor right after we heard you had an Omphalocele and Trisinomy 18 how sure he was and he said 99% sure and then give us options.   Even then before I saw your face I knew those were not options I would ever entertain.  Then you were born and you came out screaming at the top of your lungs letting me know you were a fighter just like mommy.  Or when the doctors told me while you were in NICU that you where a very sick little boy and that I needed to get prepared.  Prince, so but so many memories like this come to my mind and you defied each and every one of them with God as your warrior.

Today's my biggest issues are making sure you make it to the potty on time and ensuring you dont bring your system to the crazy side.

I am so very proud of the big boy you are becoming.  You remind me all the time that you are no longer a baby but a big boy.  Although from the picture below, (that I just took of you napping on your special day dirty face and all) you are still my baby.  I continue to be amazed by the miracle you are and what you are to become. You and sissy continue to be my teachers and I the student. I look forward to many more journeys with you and her.   Always reach for the stars my prince and never look down.

I love you,

Mami

What a difference a year makes!

WOW it has been 1.5yrs since i last posted.  That is a good sign right?  We have been too busy living life.  All blessing to God.   I was emailing with my sister and she asked me for Harrison's blog, which prompted me back here.  :)

I really want to share some of the milestones that have happened over the last 1.5yrs as a diary for my kids when they grow up and i share this with them.  So please humor me as you read this.  Take a look at the pictures section of my blog as I am going to dump a whole mess of pictures there documenting our adventures this past year.

EMERSON:

1. We survived kindergarten with Emerson.  She is now in 1st grade.  Here she is on her 1st day of school:

She is reading and doing great is school. We just got her 1st real report card yesterday and she had all As with 2 high B (88).  Very proud of her.  I keep telling my husband that she is so smart because of me.  LOL

2. She has lost 4 teeth and the tooth fairy is starting to go out of business.

3. She combs her own hair and sleeps in her bed without i having to tuck her in.  HUGE :)

4. She has joined girl scouts and really enjoys it.

5. She still want to sing, dance, act....  Wont be surprise if she does something in the arts when she is bigger.  Loves to dress up.  Here she is with her costume for Halloween yesterday (always posing):

6.  But the best thing is the last 1.5yrs is that she is still the sweetest girl with a big heart that loves God and everyone she meets.  She has still to meet a person that does not instantly become her BFF.  She is independent, outspoken, and continues to demand people take notice when she walks in a room.  I am blessed to have her be my daughter.

HARRISON:

What can I say about him.  He is a miracle from God.  In the last 1.5yrs Harrison has made progress beyond measures.  He had 2 minor surgeries this year nothing to do with the omphalocele and he is now discharged from all doctors.  THANK YOU GOD.

Please humor me once again as you read Harrison's milestones:

1. Potty trained at 30 months and so far no accidents .  Cannot under estimate this one at all

2. Sleeps in his own bed.  I tuck him in every night.  Falls asleep in mommy's arms and I go to my bed.
(Considering I had not slept in my bed the majority of Harrison's life -- This is no small thing).

3. Goes to school.  Here is a picture of him on his 1st day this year (don't you just LOVE that smile):

4. Eats everything that he can get his hands on.  He specially loves crab legs.  YES, this is from the child that was fed via a tube because he could not eat via his month because of his oral aversion.  Can I have an TESTIFY!!!!

5. He is the sweetest boy ever.  Loves to instigate his big sister and yet wants to be with her all the time.  Adores his daddy and wants to go to Lowe's with him all the time  :)

6. He LOVES music and dancing.  Here he is in his Halloween costume from our adventure yesterday:

MC HARRIS in the HOUSE!!!!

While I wont promise I will try to keep this blog updated on a more frequent basis.  I hope this blogs give you inspiration to always keep your eyes on the prize, NEVER GIVE UP, and always put your faith in GOD.

GOD BLESS
