Mickey Button - Here we come

We just got back from seeing the surgeon to discuss his mickey button surgery (originally the appointment was for next week but I could wait no longer).  So the good news is that he will have surgery next week for the mickey button.  The not so great news, per the Upper GI they did last week, is that Harrison's stomach is behind his liver which will make this a complicated but not impossible (doctor's words) surgery. The doctor is going to be a little creative so that as Harrison grows and other surgeries are done, this g-button will move with it. 

The Upper GI also showed that his insides are all in the wrong place (laymen terms here) and at some point before it is all said and done we are going to have to do surgery to try and put things in there right place.

Our plan, God willing, is that after this surgery we will wait until he is like 18mo and then hopefully he will be big enough to go in and close him up using his abdominal muscles vs. mesh, fix his inguinal hernias, and do whatever else needs to be done once and for all.  I also pray that this is the path we take as I want him to get strong and then do one surgery for every thing. We will see.

We also expect his feeding to increase and improve once the mickey button is in place.  LORD HERE MY PLEA!!!

Lord, thank you for always having my son in your loving arms.  I pray that next week's event be truly uneventful.  Harrison is and always has been in your hands.  I cannot wait to see my beautiful son's face free of tubes, tapes, and anything that does not let me enjoy the beautiful person you made.

    Bec - our prayers are with you and we all wish you the courage and faith to continue this journey. We all know that Harrison's faith is in Gods hands and he will continue to flourish in his love. Susan

    Rebecca, Leah's liver was in the way too. When the MD opened her up everything worked out. He was able to do the mic-key with ease. Praise God, it worked for Leah and with God's intervention it will work for Harrison too! Leah was 15 months old when they did her full closure with her abdominal muscles and no mesh. This can be done.......Yippie!!! BTW, did I tell you she had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery too. ---Dee
